The Real Victim
It’s weird how 1,400 Jews getting murdered in a genocidal rage gets everyone really worried about Islamophobia. I would have thought discrimination against another group was a little more central there. Intersectionality is complicated.
Ceasefire
So a lot of people are calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, but what does a ceasefire mean for Hamas? I mean, isn’t their whole charter basically “kill all the Jews”? How are they supposed to achieve that with a ceasefire? Poison, maybe?
It’s a bit like instead of capturing a serial killer, the police just get him to agree to a ceasefire. “Oh, I’ll definitely promise never to kill any more people,” says the serial killer. Man, think of all the money we’d save on police and prisons if we just got murderers to agree on ceasefires!
Speaker of the House
So the Republicans — or at least a few of them — kicked out their own Speaker McCarthy for reasons few understand and then they kept rejecting each new candidate for other reasons few understand but now they finally have a new Speaker, Mike Johnsons. He’s from… some state. And he looks like you put “Republican Congressman” as a prompt into MidJourney.
So what has this all achieved? Unknown. So why did it generate so much press? I don’t know. And why am I talking about it now? Well, I have to fill this newsletter with something, and it is a thing that happened.
A Wall
There’s more talk of building a wall on the southern border, with even Biden supporting it. Some had said walls don’t work, but I don’t if that’s true. My house has walls, and it keeps out bugs and wind. Could a wall also keep out illegal immigrants? This is unknown, but so far none has gotten in my house. Because of the walls.
Bentkey Boring?
So Bentkey — the new kids streaming service for which I write — is getting attacked because it’s from the Daily Wire, but the left are kind of confused about how to attack it. Slate wrote a long article basically finding nothing objectionable about it (and while trying to disparage Chip Chilla versus Bluey, had to admit about it that “it has a fast pace and some good jokes”). And there’s a Daily Beast article complaining about how there is nothing right-wing in it to complain about. He mentions two episodes of Chip Chilla in which the press are referenced (both of which I wrote, BTW) but seems disappointed there were no cracks about the mainstream media that left-wingers could get angry about. I’m sorry, but it’s just fun entertainment that even the left can enjoy. But the left likes to get angry at things and scream and yell. But we didn’t put anything in our fun kids’ content to make anyone angry. So I guess the left can’t enjoy it since they want to be miserable and angry. So, I guess we failed at making something the left can enjoy. Instead of watching Bentkey, they can go yell at Israel.
But still, have your kids watch Bentkey. They’ll enjoy it. Here’s Winchester enjoying Bentkey.
Short Stories
I hope everyone enjoyed It’s Coming. I was really proud of that as an original short story, and I’d love to do more like it. My original plan when I made the paid tier of my Substack was part of my morning would be working on my weekly Substack posts, part on a short story, and part on novel writing. That was before I became a full-time writer for Daily Wire, which messed up that plan because that’s a lot of creative per day. Lately, I’ve been focusing as much time as I can in getting the fourth and final Superego done, but that’s been taking longer than I thought, and it’s been harder to get that extra writing time. But once that’s done, I hope to try more original short stories again, as I really like to try writing completely new things. As for the next novels after Superego, I don’t know, but I guess we’ll see when we get there. The future is an undiscovered country. Still, I hope all the paid subscribers feel they’re getting a good value for their money with my incoherent posts like this.
