What you need to know about the Democrats’ presidential candidate
President Biden dropped out of the race, and now it looks like the Democrats are all rallying behind Kamala Harris. But who is she? And why was she the immediate pick?
Well, here’s what I was able to find out about her.

Married, one child.
Was born in Englewood, New Jersey.
Has two siblings, an older and younger brother.
Graduated from Tenafly High School.
Went to Columbia University where she played varsity football.
Later enrolled in the University of Oklahoma to study drama.
Began her career on the stage, and got her first film role in 1978.
After having some success in TV, she got her breakout role playing John Glenn in The Right Stuff.
Received her first Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of Gene Kranz in Apollo 13.
Got another Academy Award nomination for co-starring in The Truman Show.
Later went on to receive two more nominations, one for leading role in Pollock and another for supporting in The Hours. Has not one an Oscar, though.
Got involved in politics by playing John McCain in HBO’s Game Change.
Was also in HBO’s Westworld.
Was most recently in Top Gun: Maverick.
Well, that’s pretty interesting. The only thing is I don’t see why this led to her being the Democrats’ nominee for president. I guess they’re trying something new.
