War. It’s still bad. Oppenheimer thought he ended war by inventing the nuke, but wars are still happening and we hardly ever nuke anyone.
And with war comes suffering. It causes lots of death — and not just of people we don’t like. Sometimes civilians. Often just some average schmuck while the evil dictator who started the war still lives in his nice palace. And that’s often why we get war: The people who start them are often immune from the consequences.
But maybe it doesn’t have to be this way. Maybe there is a way to discourage war and make sure it’s the people at the top who suffer the consequences. And it’s such a simple solution…
