A lot of my plans got changed this week because of changes in plans on a business trip. But hey, if you’re excited to know more about the upcoming programming for DW Kids… well, I can’t really tell you more than that things are moving and it’s really exciting. We even all recently got together in person.
Hopefully we’ll have something to show you this month. But I do have something else from the Daily Wire I can show you now…
That’s Not Funny
While the kids programming we’re working on won’t be out until next year, we have some other stuff out now with more coming. It’s some animated shorts called That’s Not Funny. Here is the first:
We hope to have another soon and put them out fairly regularly. It’s pretty similar to the animated shorts from The Babylon Bee because… well… it’s being made by pretty much all the same people — except now they work for The Daily Wire. Hope you enjoy!
Odd Magics
Yeah, I mainly like plugging my own books, but Sarah Hoyt (one of the best people and a big supporter in my novel writing) has out a new book, Odd Magics: Tales for the Lost, and it is an absolutely beautiful collection of modern fairy tales I can’t recommend enough. Just some great, uplifting stories about love and magic in this world. Buy and give it a read; it will really make your day.
Godwin’s Law
I have a new short story written with the return of Braeburn and Devereaux, the CSIs from Who Murdered the Dinosaurs? I plan to put it out next week on this Substack. I worked really hard on it (mystery elements and everything), so I hope you enjoy; this is that premium content you’re all paying for.
The next longer short story I’m working on for this Substack will be about Hellbender.
Superego: Betrayal Audiobook
The audiobook of Superego: Betrayal is currently in production, and should be available in early to mid June. Joel Richards is returning but will be joined by a second narrator this time. I’ve already heard a few samples and I’m really excited for this one. The audiobook is where I finally get to sit back and enjoy my own writing.
Hellbender 2
Hellbender 2 is still out to the beta readers, as I apparently had some email trouble where some beta readers never got it so I extended the time for beta reader feedback. Looking at the feedback, I don’t expect to make too many changes, but it still needs to be edited and I’m working with Ethan Nicolle on the new cover. So, I still hope to get it out to everyone later this year. It will hopefully be my funniest book yet.
Superego: The Conclusion
I am currently writing the fourth and final Superego that should answer all questions and sum up all plot points. I can already tell it’s not going to be an easy one, but I’m in the second chapter already — well, technically it’s chapter 1 as the first chapter is a prologue. I’m going to aim to have it done and out next year, but all my regular plans got changed since now I’m a TV writer, but we’ll see. I’m still adjusting to the new schedule, and instead of novel writing being a side gig to my engineering job it’s now a side gig to my other writing.
Well, that’s it for now. I hope you’re all enjoying this Substack. I think I’m going to continue to aim for two posts a week — one free and one just for paid subscribers. And anything political will be behind a paywall since I worked very hard on my political opinions so it’s wrong to give them away for free.
Man, I'm jealous you got to hang with the DW crew in person AND with the legendary Doug TenNapel! I got to have cigars with a few of those guys when I was in Cali for the BB Christmas party. Wish I could have met you then...but you just HAD to take your family on vacation. Sad!
Also, thanks for another fupdate!
Upcoming Braeburn/Devereaux AND Hellbender short stories! Be still my beatin' heart!
Also, bought Hoyt's book on your recommendation. Why do I keep buying books solely based off of people's recommendations and being interested in the content? *look at large unread book stack* I need to stop that.
