So, my plan at the beginning of 2022 was to make this Substack and my novels my sole writing outlet. As you may know, my plans soon got scuttled as the Daily Wire hired me, taking me away from my computer programming day job to work full-time as a TV show writer for them. After Disney made another vow to use their platform to push the LGBTQ agenda, the Daily Wire committed $100 million toward children’s programming, and that has been what I’ve been working on.
And finally — finally — you get to see my work! As Daily Wire has now launched Bentkey, a new children’s platform!
They’re trying to pick up the trust that Disney abandoned and get a slate of children’s shows where you don’t have to worry about any agenda being pushed on your kids. I’m a parent with four kids, so I know how you can’t trust the new stuff out there without screening, but we’re hoping to earn that trust from you.
And now you finally get to watch twelve episodes of Chip Chilla! I was a part of developing the show since we first came up with episode ideas and am the credited writer on five of the premiere episodes (though we all contributed to each). It’s about a family of homeschooling chinchillas that go a little overboard in their lessons.
I hope your whole family enjoys them. The first one — “To the Moon” — is kind of a personal one to me as I’m a bit of a Chum Chum when it comes to the subject of the Apollo missions. And the last one — “Snow Battle” — has my favorite joke of the season I wrote and is a lot of fun. Go check them out!
I also worked on the Wonderful World of Mabel Maclay show, which has two episodes out, and they will be adding more shortly. It’s a very sweet show the kids will enjoy.
There are also a ton of other shows there that Daily Wire has curated so you don’t have to worry about the content.
So go to Bentkey.com and get the apps for iOS, Android, and Roku. If you’re a Daily Wire Plus member, you already get access to the shows. If not, you can subscribe for $99 a year to help us get going with this new adventure. That money will go toward helping us make more shows and, most importantly, to writers’ salaries. We want to put kids’ programming back in the right direction, and it will still take some time and effort, but we can all do it. Plus, if the shows aren’t a huge hit, I’ll be fired and have to live as a hobo. Think of little Winchester living on the streets, unable to charge his iPad — you don’t want that on your conscience!
Has anyone watched Chip Chilla yet? What did you and your kids think? What’s your favorite episode? We started working on these so long ago, and I need feedback!
I know that as soon as 3rd child finished her school this morning, she plunked down and put on Chip Chilla.
We just watched the first episode. My 2 year old son was spellbound.
