There is a new edition of Sidequest out!
Let’s call this the “I actually get royalties” edition. For some reason, Amazon has messed up and the ebook version doesn’t show any reviews, but the paperback version shows currently 307 ratings to prove it’s a book everyone loves (well, the ending was divisive though I thought I nailed it).
This is a lot of people’s favorite novel of mine, and if for some reason you haven’t read it yet, it’s about a mild-mannered computer programmer who starts to notice a lot of crazy things (his boss is a demon, his girlfriend is a warrior who serves something called the Darkness, and there is human sacrifice under his office building) that no one else think are of particular interest. And he has the choice whether to ignore it all or have forces beyond his understanding out to destroy him.
It’s been the property I’ve most wanted to adapt to other media, and just for fun, I thought I’d use MidJourney to see what a Sidequest TV show would look like (doing concept images is so much more fun than writing). I write novels because that was the most accessible medium for me to share stories, but I think with AI we’re only years away from the average person being able to make a movie as easy as a novel.
Anyway, for those who’ve read Sidequest, see if you can recognize the scenes.
Well, again, if you haven’t read Sidequest yet, pick up a copy.
There’s also a short story follow-up, but I recommend you read the novel first.
I got super excited thinking there was a Sidequest TV series coming out. Then bummed because it isn’t. Now, I need the show.
If this became a TV show I would have to believe there is hope for this world! A Sidequest TV show is what we need right now. Think of the cultural divisions it would heal, how many more lemony good baked goods would make it to small groups! Think of how your perfect ending could very well lead to revival. For the good of he nation and even the world WE NEED Sidequest on TV.
