In the good old days, if you told the right, “I’d like a war with…” They’d agree with it before you even told them who. We’re the greatest country in the world, so why shouldn’t we kick around stupid dumb countries who shouldn’t even really exist because they suck?

But I guess we tried to do too much. Not only would we bomb the crap out of countries, but then we’d stick around and try to make them not suck so much. Now, the bombing usually went well, but the sticking around part not so much. Getting other countries to not suck is apprently really, really hard. WWII made it look easy with us bombing the crap out of Germany and Japan and now they’re cool friends who make cars and stuff. But we bombed the Middle East even more, and they have not made any cars.

In reaction to this, there are now a growing number of isolationists who just want us to stay out of things and focus on the U.S.. It doesn’t matter how evil countries are out there — that’s for people in foreign lands to deal with. Our only concern is our own country.

And these people are always saying it’s not the job of America to be the world police. The rest of the world is its own concern.

There is just one big flaw with this philosophy: America is on the world.

I don’t know how these people think that we can just ignore everything going on everywhere else. That seems to be some fantasy that America just seal itself up like North Korea and not deal with the rest of the world. I guess technically that’s possible with how big America is — as long as we’re significantly poorer. And as long as when America becomes significantly poor and weaker no one attacks us.

But we don’t want to be dumb and poor. And thus, going by the very well-established economic principle of “trade = wealth,” we need to deal with other countries to be rich and successful. So what happens in other countries actually effects us a lot, and thus it is our business.

Still, people are like, “You can’t just bomb countries who aren’t directly attacking us. We should stick to only fighting countries who are directly attack us.” Sorry, but that is a really moronic idea.
