Hey, I haven’t done just a plain writing update in a while. First, I should let you know about my day job and that Chip Chilla season 2 has started.
The first episode, a Rashomon-style episode, was released Saturday, and the next one should be out this Saturday. Subscribe to Bentkey and check it out! We have a lot of great new episodes this season, and I can’t wait for people to see them.
Superego 4
So, I’m working on the fourth and final Superego (tentatively titled Superego: Echoes). It feels like it’s going so slowly despite my working on it daily. I feel like my novel writing has slowed down since getting a full-time writing job, which I think partly because of the diverse need for my creativity throughout the day. Still, I think I have a great ending to the series, and I’m hoping I can pull it off, as I can’t wait for everyone to see it. I’m currently working on a complete version I can give to the alpha reader (the lovely and talented SarahK). After that, I’ll be looking for beta readers (and posting the beta version for all paid subscribers). And then there will still be editing and other stuff, so it will be a while.
And it’s just taking so long to get it done while also writing for Frank Talk (which I really enjoy) all in the spare time from my day writing job. So, after I finish Superego 4, I think I will change things up for my next novel so it won’t be such a wait. Which brings us to…
Hellbender 3
For the third Hellbender (tentatively titled H3llbender), I’m planning to serialize it here on Frank Talk. That will require me to write the novel quite differently from the others as I usually jump into writing without a full plan and then need to go back and fill things in or change things as I figure the novel out. Instead, I’ll need to plan this one out more, but I think I did a decent job writing serially with Origin Story (where I was working from a script I wrote, so the whole story was already mapped out). So that’s the plan for what’s next after I finish the fourth Superego, and that way you won’t have to wait years for it (and I should be able to devote more time to it since I’ll be combining my novel writing time and my Frank Talk writing time).
Well, that’s all the updates for now. Thanks again so much for supporting Frank Talk. This is my little place to experiment with writing and humor, and I hope to keep trying new things. If you have any feedback, make sure to tell me.
And how are you doing?
Hey Frank, I get it's a ways out, but do you eventually think you'd publish H3llbender in book format? I love your short stories, but reading them all together in a physical format is much more satisfying for me personally.
My 2.5-year-old invented a new verse to "Old McDonald" last night. On the farm there was a chinchilla with a "Chilla Time!" here and a "Chilla Time!" there. He had me bursting out laughing. I think you have a fan.
